Women's Fellowship
The women of the church meet on the first Monday of each month (unless otherwise announced) at 7:00 pm in the library. Each meeting is begun with prayer and a devotional. During the meeting, matters of old and new business are discussed and plans are made for church events (fellowship meals, wedding and baby showers, sales, other special activities). We have a lot of fun as we fellowship and enjoy a snack together. Our current leadership is Janet Landis, president; Karen Imes, vice-president; Linda McFadden, secretary; and Betty Peters, treasurer. Other women in the group are responsible for sending cards to those who are ill, have babies, etc., planters to those hospitalized, and organize meals for those in need. On the fun side,we also participate in Secret Sisters, which provides excitement all year long. This is a great way for ladies to be involved in fellowship and service. All women are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Women's Fellowship is sponsoring a "Patches of Love" outreach ministry that provides quilts, afghans, hats or other items handcrafted by church members to those who are going through health or other issues in their daily lives as a way of both showing the individual that others are thinking an praying about them, as well as a way of showing them God's love for them. As God has given people various talents, this is a way to put them to good use. Some people can sew while others like to deliver the item and spend some time with the person. The contact person for this ministry is Sherri Sheaffer. We have meetings as needed and beginning in September they will be on a set regular schedule. We are presently working on a project for Haiti and meeting more frequently. As we continue to grow we will be looking for individuals who may not want or have the talent to make a quilt but would be willing to deliver the items to those in need. If you know of a need or wish to be a part of this ministry in any week, feel free to contact Sherri.
Women's Fellowship also sponsors a monthly collection for the Juniata County Food Bank which helps to put food on the tables of those in need in our local area. The food bank operates out of Mifflintown and has various hours of operation for both pick-up and drop-off of food/non-perishable items. Each month they provide us with a list of essential items which they need and we include that information in our bulletin. Individuals can drop off contributions in the designated box under the mailboxes and Laura Chubb delivers the donations to the Food Pantry each month.
SWAP
This is a ministry headed by Kim Watts and Mia Hassinger designed to help match people who are looking for certain items with those who have the items to give away. At various times throughout the year specific categories of items are collected for the swap. The following week all are welcome to come and look for a treasure. This is an exchange of items - open to anyone interested - not just the needy. If you don't have something to bring for a particular swap you may have something for the next one. There is no cost involved with the swap, but if individuals wish to make monetary donations, those gifts are given toward the building fund. Only good, clean, unstained and unbroken items are accepted. All leftover items are taken to the Care-And-Share in Seven Stars. If you are interested in helping with this ministry, sorters are always welcome!
Men's Fellowship
Men's Fellowship meets the third Tuesday of each month for an executive planning meeting. All men of the church are encouraged to attend as they plan times of fellowship and service to and for our church body. Men are welcome to join at any time.
Men's Fellowship would like to help out with any yard or household needs within the congregation. If you need help with something, please contact Brad Kerstetter.
L.I.F.E. Groups (Love~Instruction~Fellowship~Extension) Small Group Ministry
Life Groups are a "COMMUNITY" of Love, Instruction, Fellowship and an Extension of our Christian faith to other people
Life Groups are designed to help individuals learn of the Love of Jesus Christ. We learn the Instruction of God's Word. We Fellowship with other people and it also becomes an Extension of our lives to others through our witness and the faith we have in Jesus Christ.
During the fall, winter and spring the church enjoys a variety of different Life Groups from couples to women and men. Each group establishes their own personal time and day to meet. During the summer months we have an All-Church Life Group which meets on Wednesday evenings from June to August. At the present time Pastor Mott is leading a Griefshare Life Group. In the future Pastor Steve will be leading a Life Group on DivorceCare. The Youth have a Life Group called LifeSavers which meets on Wednesday evenings and at various other times. They enjoy various special events. There is something for everyone to be involved with and to participate in throughout the entire year. Come and join a Life Group and grow with us at Niemonds Independent Church.

This is Something You Do Not Want To Miss!
Even if you cannot make all of the Wednesday Nights,
please plan on attending as many as you can!!!
GriefShare is a video series that will take us through the insights of a believer dealing with grief. Whether you have recently had a relative or friend die, or you have lost a loved one in the past, it will cause you to biblically change your attitude toward the grieving process. You will see that a personal relationship with Jesus Christ brings healing from any pain of grief.
You will learn that it is okay to grieve, how long grief should last, how to handle emotions, understanding the “whys,” God’s prescription for grief and so much more.
You will have a note-taking outline for each video and then our Pastors will lead in a discussion time.
You will also have daily readings throughout the week.
Don’t miss this wonderful, biblical teaching experience…
