From the Pastor’s Heart…

 (April 24, 2011)

As people who proclaim they believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the change in our lives that the gospel has brought about, it seems so often that we replace godliness with our own thinking and not God’s.

Philippians 4:8 tells us that if we are people of faith – people changed by the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ – then we are to be people that constantly dwell on  five things:

Things that are of Truth: (2 Tim. 2:25) It is the Word of God that should guide us.

Things that are Noble: a compound word in the Greek. Eu=well and genos=birth. The only things worthy of respect are those things that are well-born. Those things come from God.

Things that are Just: Things that are in harmony with God’s righteous standards.

Things that are Lovely: These are things that are righteously pleasing – things that put God first.

Things that are of Good Report: A word that means admirable. Those things focus on righteousness, not evil or selfishness.

We have looked at a lot of pictures recently and I was reminded that the one taking the picture has the power to point the camera in any direction they wish.

It is truly my desire for our church fellowship, proclaiming the resurrection of the Lord, to be found pointing the camera at the things that are noble and truthful and just and lovely and admirable… to God’s glory.

It is a joy to be your pastor.
