From the Pastor’s Heart…

(3/20/11)

Very soon we will come to the end of our verse-by-verse study of 2 Peter and Jude. Thank you for the wonderful response to the teaching of God’s Word. Part of a pastor’s responsibility is not only to rightly divide the truth and to admonish, but also to warn.

Remember, from the blatant false teacher to the scripture twister to the power hungry that creep in unawares, we must be vigilant in our efforts to stay true to God’s Word. That is certainly the prayer of your Pastors and leadership.

As we bring this study to a close, I would like to share with you some of the signs that we have talked about with regards to false teaching. Any one of these marks of false teaching is sufficient identification… as we have said, they do not need to be guilty of all.

Let us ‘test all things’ together. Amen!!

·                     Through signs and wonders they lead astray after false gods (Dt. 13:1-4)

·                     Their prophecies don’t come to pass (Dt. 18:20-22)

·                     They contradict God’s Word (Is. 8:20)

·                     They bear bad fruit (Mt. 7:18-20)

·                     Many men, even professing believers, might speak well of them (Lk 6:26)

·                     They deny that Jesus, the one and only Christ, has come once and for all in the flesh (1 Jn 4:3)

·                     They will explain away scripture that contradicts their teaching (2 Pet. 2:1-3)

It is a joy to be your pastor.
